💡
Safety Precautions
- Use caution to avoid damaging the roof material during inspection.
- Walk on the roof cautiously as it may be fragile or brittle, especially in areas with visible damage or wear.

1. Visual Inspection
- Check for cracks, tears, or punctures in the roofing material.
- Look for any signs of delamination or bubbling that need to be repaired first, not just covered over.
- Inspect for discoloration, stains, or mold growth.
- Examine the roof edges and seams for any signs of wear or damage.
2. Roof Length Measurement
- Measure the length of the RV roof from the front termination bar to the rear termination bar in a straight line. Use a tape measure and make sure it is pulled tight without sagging. Report the result to the office.
3. Roofing membrane and coating
- Inspect the roofing membrane (membrane types: EPDM, TPO, fiberglass, PVC, aluminum alloy, galvanized metal sheet) for signs of wear or damage.
- Note that the old membrane may shrink and come out of the gutter or termination bar. These areas can be sealed with Fabric tape. But it is not clear how it will behave afterwards.
- Make sure any roof coating is intact, not peeling or cracking.
- Specify the type of coating: if it is acrylic, it is usually removed completely, but this takes a long time.
If the coating is silicone, it is no longer possible to apply a new one over it - you will have to either change the membrane or use silicone with mesh.
