How Often You Should Maintain Your RV Roof
- Visual inspection — once every 6 months.
Check the seams, sealant, roof components, and look for any damage.
Also perform an inspection before every long trip and after heavy rain, hail, or snowfall.
- Roof washing and cleaning — at least once a year, and more often with frequent use or if the RV is stored under trees.
General Recommendations
- Do not place sharp or heavy objects on the roof. This can damage the membrane and cause leaks.
- Avoid unnecessary walking on the roof. If you must go up, do so carefully and in soft-soled shoes.
- Regularly clear the roof of leaves, branches, and debris. Accumulated debris can trap water and cause damage.
- Keep gutters and drain channels clean. Clogs can block proper water flow and lead to standing water or leaks.
Washing & Cleaning
- Do not use harsh chemicals, petroleum-based products, or abrasive tools. They can destroy the protective layer and shorten the roof’s lifespan.
- Use a soft brush or sponge with water and mild soap.
- Avoid using high-pressure washers too close to the surface. Strong water jets may damage the coating and seals.
Additional Tips
- Do not install homemade structures or equipment without proper mounting.
