Process Overview:
Markup
- Cut a piece of aluminum 1.5-2 inches long - it will serve as a template.
- Insert the template into the groove at the edge of the roof and tilt it onto the roof itself.
Starting ΒΌ inch from the edge of the template, make a mark with a marker.
Repeat the procedure on both sides of the roof sides.
- Score a level line on the marks with a chalc line.
Metal fastening
- Unroll the aluminum sheet and start attaching it according to the markings:
- It starts at the junction with fiberglass.
- Fasten with staples every ~4 inches.
- The first line of staples is by check line.
- The second line is along the edge of the plywood on the roof.
- If one roll is not long enough, lay the next roll with a few inches of overlap.
Seam sealing
- Seal the joint between the plywood and metal with Drywool Tape along the entire length.
Membrane sticking and trimming
- After bonding the TPO/PVC membrane to the roof and aluminum with adhesive: Carefully cut the excess membrane along the edge of the metal using a knife with a curved (hooked) blade.
Forming a smooth angle
- Fold the membrane with the glued aluminum into the grooves on the sides of the roof.
